2015-16 Starts with a Super Leader Theme!
The 2015-16 school year finds us in our second year of incorporating The Leader in Me 7 Habits with a Super Leader Theme. The hallways were ready for the student to arrive. Teachers found ways to show off the theme everywhere. The first days were full of excitement with Pow! - Zap! and a Wow! Students were asked "How would they become a Super Leader this year?"
Student Leadership Opportunities throughout Still
Students have the opportunity to become leaders in their classrooms. There are also opportunities around the school for example our DH/H students have established a Greeter Leader chart. On their scheduled day, they gather a badge and head to the front lobby to greet and shake the hands of incoming guests and students before the 7:45 bell..
Recognizing the Habits...
Several teachers have established ways to 'catch' students using the Habits or having students 'catch' other students using the Habits. They are proud to display these outside in the hallways.
Habit 2:Begin with the End in Mind...Set a Goal!
With a new year comes resolutions and a great time for the students to focus on Habit 2! Teachers worked with students on setting a school goal and a personal goal. The discussed, wrote about, and started charting how one would achieve that goal.
Classroom Mission Statements...
In the Fall of 2014, every classroom created a mission statement from our wee little preschoolers thru the 5th grade homerooms, specials classes, counselors and even the front office. Those mission statements were created with input from the students and are now posted outside every door as well as in the classrooms.
We hold a parent information meeting...
Our 2nd Leader In Me Parent Night was held Thursday September 11th at 6:30 pm. It was a gathering to learn more about how our school is going to implement Dr. Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People throughout our 2014-2015 school year and beyond!
You heard from several of our Still Foundation Board members along with having heard from, most importantly, some of our Still student leaders on how they are already using the 7 Habits to help them take charge of their learning!
